Fertility Diet: Foods You MUST Eat Organic

WHAT YOU MUST EAT ORGANIC
When trying to conceive it's important to eat an all-organic diet. I believe it's especially important to eat meat organic due to the added growth hormones and antibiotics that get added. The same goes for dairy, should you choose to consume that (we recommend eliminating dairy).

But what about all those fruits and veggies out there? Must we eat all of them in organic form? Well, if you must skimp on organic produce here and there to save money, or you simply can’t find the organic versions in your local market, just know that some produce is better than others. The following produce is the least likely to test positive for pesticides, according to the Environmental Working Group, so if you have to skimp on organic someplace, these are your better bets.
  • onions
  • sweet corn (although a lot of corn tends to be genetically modified)
  • sweet peas (note, though: these include a natural contraceptive)
  • asparagus
  • cabbage
  • eggplant
  • sweet potatoes
  • avocados
  • pineapples
  • mangoes
  • kiwi
  • cantaloupe
  • watermelon
  • grapefruit
  • honeydew
On the other end of the spectrum, these are produce you definitely want to buy organic, as they tested with the highest levels of pesticides:
  • peaches
  • strawberries
  • apples
  • blueberries
  • nectarines
  • cherries
  • grapes
  • celery
  • sweet bell peppers
  • spinach
  • kale
  • collard greens
  • potatoes
  • cucumber

To help save money eating organic, buy produce in season (when it's cheaper) in bulk and freeze for when it's out of season. For many other tips on how to save money while eating organic, see my recent blog at FertilityAuthority.
